For those unaware, one of Italian Horror’s towering films recently hit 4K, as an extras-laden limited edition. Pupi Avati’s classic The House With Laughing Windows (1976) has had a spotty history on home video, but its recent reissue by Arrow Home Video has finally given it the home it so richly deserves. Featuring Arrow’s acclaimed transfer from the film’s original negative, Avati’s incredibly creepy and disturbing hidden classic can now be seen as intended. Arrow’s new release comes loaded up with analytical and history-based commentaries and essays, but the real star is Federico Caddeo’s Painted Screams, a feature-length documentary on Avati’s seemingly impenetrable chiller.
More information on Arrow’s release can be found here at their site. You can also order it on sale from MVD.
